Volcanoes national park is one of the few parks in the world that host mountain gorillas and it is found in the virunga ranges. Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes national park.
Begin the journey to northern direction of Rwanda as early as 4:00am. The journey will take you through the beautiful landscape of the rolling hills hence appreciate why Rwanda is called the land of thousand hills. Have picnic breakfast as you proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and by 8:00am you go to the starting point of the trek into the park.
The trekking experience can take couple of minutes or several hours before meeting the mountain gorillas. During the trek, you spot other wildlife like forest elephants, buffaloes and plenty of endemic birds. Once you meet the mountain gorillas, you’re only given one hour with them to take pictures and also to observe them. Return to the lodge for lunch and after transfer back to Kigali, marking the end of this 1 day gorilla tour.
